The Ask
Apex Leisure Centre is one of the key venues where the people of New Ross and Southwest Wexford go to swim, relax (in the sauna) or book gym classes to get fit. It’s a relatively new building with modern facilities and is well regarded by the community. However, it had a basic brochure-style website which lacked any ecommerce capabilities.
This meant that it worked well to promote all the great things on offer. But in order to book a class or become a member you needed to physically go to the centre instead of being able to do it online. And in an era where customers expect to be able to do everything at the touch of button, it meant they were potentially losing memberships and revenue as a result.

The Fix
To meet the need of the brief we decided to build a brand-new site. And we incorporated a new ecommerce interface that gave a good user experience. Our biggest challenge was building the different classes and product categories within the gym. We needed to ensure that nothing was missed but also build the booking system in a way that was easiest for the new members to understand.
We built the platform on WordPress and integrated WooCommerce to incorporate a payment gateway system. This allowed for easy ways to pay through debit or credit card use or bank transfer. And we also provided full hosting with a maintenance package too. That meant we not only delivered a user-friendly site – we created a highly robust web platform that was fully secure.
The Results
Apex were delighted with their site, particularly their new ecommerce facility. For users on the old site booking a class meant finding directions to the centre and booking in reception. But the new site has made it much each for people to book. And in today’s world we’re we’ve switched from going online to living online it has translated into a dramatic difference in bookings – including all kinds of classes and memberships.
Indeed, all feedback from Apex has been extremely positive and they are now in the process of integrating the website tech with their reception booking system. So, our build provided a kind of template or interface to link what happens at with reception and what goes on to the website as well.


Brand Nova understood what our challenges were and delivered a tailored digital marketing strategy to deliver results and increase performance. This has reflected in our sales turnover.
